Defender, Discovery, Motorhome – Before n After rustproofing

Classification: d) Very rusty vehicles where I either find one instance of rot or where no rot is found but it is expected that the customer will have to bring back the vehicle for re-treatment at least once under the guarantee. These customers will have to pay an extra £100 for the guarantee and £200 for re-treatment under the guarantee.
Nissan 4 x 4's have a reputation for breaking in half when rusty. After rustproofing this vehicle I can see where the problem lies. The inner half of the chassis consists of 3 parts which meet in about the middle. There is a middle, sleeve section of about 2 feet long. The front and rear section fit into this sleeve and the sections are then welded. The welding is very thin as can be seen in my last picture. I had to chisel off laminations of rust in this area. The owner must make sure that at every MOT he asks to inspect the area himself when the vehicle is up on the ramp to make sure that my coating is still intact and doing its job and if rust is showing through he needs to bring the vehicle back for re-treatment. The customer has notified me on 5.1.2022 that he has had the registration number changed.
